TRESemmé isn’t a brand I readily associate with the term ‘natural’.Yet, here I am reviewing their Naturals hair spray. It contains certified organic sweet orange and aloe vera extracts and is a spritzer rather than an aerosol, therefore saving on harmful gases. Not a bad start. TRESemmé promise this hairspray will be extra strong, to hold your hair in place – even during periods of humidity. The professional quality formula should also be fast drying, giving you natural-looking shine all the while being easy to brush out, leaving no residue.
Here’s What They Suggest You Do:
Step 1: Always start with TRESemme Naturals sham…No. Skip that, it’s not necessary. Any shampoo and conditioner will do, it’s a myth that you need to use a whole collection from one brand in order to get the best effects.
Step 2: Spritz TRESemmé Naturals Non-Aerosol Hairspray.Yes, this works well. The nozzle pumps easily and the sprayer is even and light so you don’t overload your hair. It can clog, though; if that happens run the nozzle under hot water and leave to dry before using again.
Step 3: For a stronger hold, layer on more coats exactly where you want more control. If you do this it will make it harder to get a comb, never mind a brush, through your curly hair. They’re not kidding about the extra strong hold claim. I find one application is enough, any more than that and your hair starts looking a bit too structured.
Step 4: For sky-high volume and overall body, flip hair upside down and mist all over.Ah. We’ve hit another snag. I tried this gel and found that a coat of hairspray underneath as well as on top of my hair weighed it down too much, meaning it went a bit flat. The lasting power is good, though, which impresses me.

Generally speaking this is a good, high quality products that is certainly one of the better non-aerosol hairsprays on the market. It certainly smells nicer than Aveda’s Witch Hazel rival, and it’s better value for money, too. The lasting power is also good, so there’s no need to overdo it with layer upon layer of hairspray; one application keeps me going throughout the morning and afternoon. The natural shine TRESemmé promises (and delivers) doesn’t fade and it doesn’t make my blonde color hair greasy, either. It is humidity resistant – to a point, but I can’t criticise TRESemmé for not keeping my hair flyaway-free throughout the year, as no hairspray has managed that yet. If you’re badly affected by humidity where you are, serums are your friend. Even though there are more traditional, cheaper hairsprays likes dove, loreal, pantene brands products that work better than this one, I have bought TRESemmé’s natural alternative more than I’ve ever bought the others; I think it’s worth the money. This is indicative of my priorities, which of course might be different to yours. The non-aerosol design, more natural formula and strong hold wins the day for me.
