Contrary to the usual, the rain did go away with wishful thinking. What started as another dreary morning—the latest in a streak of dreary mornings for Sydney—turned into a true blue affair: sun, beating down in full force onto the asphalt and red brick. It seemed like a fitting introduction to 2024 Australian Fashion Week, presented by Pandora, which touched down in Carriageworks today—the first in a five-day schedule. A Welcome to Country and the smoking ceremony was followed by the opening presentation, Marina Afonina’s Albus Lumen, and then the four emerging designers of IMG’s Next Gen show, featuring Amy Lawrance, House of Campbell, Emily Watson, and Potirakis.

let’s discuss about Met Gala 2024

As for the street style? It was a relatively colorful affair for those in attendance—perhaps, partly, to brighten up the initial greys. Pops of color came in vermillion blousons, cobalt Burberry bags, and red stockings. Suiting, a favorite of the local style set, was also abundant, spotted in both louche and fitted forms. There were less formal silhouettes; guests embraced a sort of elevated casual, layering blazers over run club T-shirts and styling Zimmermann tops with grounded denim pants.

Here, we bring you the best street style we spotted on day 1 of  Fashion Week 2024.
